  • Review project with Project Manager to gain understanding of job requirements and challenges
  • Review job file and get familiar with the quote, purchase order, schedule, and determine if any discrepancies exist
  • If required by SOP, prepare a material take-off of all coil requirements for trim
  • If job requires, do a material take-off of all extrusions and enter into the system for advance order.
  • Prepare drawings using AutoCAD, including:
    • Key Plan
    • Roof Plans
    • Roof Sections
    • Wall elevations
    • Details
    • Fastening schemes based on wind and panel analyses
  • Determine the preliminary panel requirements and enter into the system
  •  Determine the preliminary accessory requirements and enter into the system
  • Prepare submittal package including:
    • Drawings
    • Tests reports as required
    • Calculations if required.
  • Revise drawings as required by returned submittal
  • Prepare shop and accessory releases
  • Release final drawings.

Additional Responsibilities:


  • With the Project Manager to understand the project and to address questions or needs.
  • With customer to obtain answers to questions and ascertain the customer’s needs.
  • With the scheduler
    • When drawings started
    • Anticipated remaining duration
    • When drawings are submitted
    • When drawings are returned
  • With Customer Relations
    • Changes to the project
      • Delivery changes
      • Product Changes
      • Color selection or changes
    • Material requirements
      • Coil for trim requirements
  • Differences in estimated panel quantities and actual quantities


Skills Required

  • Ability to use AutoCAD
    • 2D layouts
    • Annotative Dimensions (helpful but not necessarily required)
    • Annotative Text (helpful but not necessarily required)
    • Block and Wblock creation
    • Attribute creation and data extraction
    • Layer usage
    • Paperspace layout
  • Ability to understand and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
  • Low-end Trigonometry
    • For calculation of roof slopes and/or wall lengths at gable ends.
