The Continuous Improvement Manager leads the continuous improvement initiative to eliminate waste, reduce cost and grow revenue.  This position is responsible to create and execute the vision and strategy in the execution of Lean principles.   Continuous Improvement encompasses the use of Lean Tools, Value Stream Mapping, Lean Material Flow, Visual Management, Material Pull Systems, 5S and Safety.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:    

  1. Facilitates and coaches cross functional teams who are responsible for the planning, preparation, and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
  2. Lead process improvement teams to apply process improvement methodologies, and achieve business results.
  3. Meet project goals and milestones.
  4. Develop and coordinate training processes for all employees and cross functional teams
  5. Conduct follow-up assessments of completed training to evaluate and measure results
  6. Modify continuous improvement activities and training programs as needed
  7. Work with the management team to identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities
  8. Provide Business Leadership with support, tools and training to conduct meaningful project reviews
  9. Lead efforts to implement process control and process mapping, documentation, metrics, and monitoring systems
  10. Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Managements systems in place at Metal Coaters
  11. Responsible for communicating daily with all levels of employees in order to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals
  12. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly
  13. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws
  14. Perform all duties in a safe manner
  15. Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Management or related degree
  • A minimum 5 years of experience leading process improvement teams or training or related work experience is required  
  • Additional experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirements


Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence. In addition, the ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one, in small group situations and settings is required.   


Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to perform general mathematic calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and statistics.  Some positions may require advance mathematics.


Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form a must.  In addition, the ability to solve problems, which involve multiple variables in a standard situation, is required.


Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Tools, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management 5S, and Lean Material Flow.
  • Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with a diversified work force
  • Exhibit strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interface and communicate with all levels throughout the company.
  • Self motivated with a high degree of ownership and accountability for results.
  • Highly flexible and able to react constructively and with a positive attitude to multiple demands, shifting priorities, change and unexpected events.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively one-on-one, and in group settings, to include employee training. 
  • Must have effective written communication skills to create memorandums that are appropriate for all audience levels, with correct punctuation and grammar.
