Responsibilities

 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely performing emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure. The Maintenance Technician responds to the needs of the production supervisor in the event of an unplanned production line breakdown. The Maintenance Technician effectively utilizes manpower and equipment to complete repairs in a timely manner, thereby contributing to the productivity and customer satisfaction.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (To include the following, other may be assigned)

  • Responsible for safely performing emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure and minimizing production time losses associated with the breakdown or failure of production equipment
  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of a Preventative Maintenance Program designed to establish reliability of production equipment and infrastructure.  Effectively utilize manpower to complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of a Work Order System designed to establish priority and control over maintenance request from production personnel.  Ensures that Work Oder (Maintenance) request are fulfilled in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for the safe and prudent use of company equipment and tools. Also, ensures a safe work environment by utilizing Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and reporting any unsafe condition
  • Responsible for the inventory of maintenance supplies. Informs the Maintenance Supervisor when supplies have been removed from stock and require replenishment.      Provides ordering information for replenishment of stock. 
  • Responsible for utilizing the Work Order system both in entering work orders and completing work orders, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Communicates daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control in order to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals.
  • Responsible for follow-up review of completed maintenance tasks to ensure that work is completed properly and in a safe and timely manner
  • Responsible for development and review of Standard Operating Procedures to govern the function performed by maintenance personnel
  • Ensures that all established maintenance work areas are kept clean and safe including where repairs are performed
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place

 

**This position is for the night shift**

 

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

5 years of documented experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician, Mechanic and/or Electrician or 2 years technical school or degree in related field may substitute for 2 of the total 5 years required.

 

 Language Skills:

The ability to read and comprehend documents in English including: safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and simple correspondence. Also, the ability to communicate information in small group situation’s to other employees.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figure’s and amounts such as fractions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding, to perform work instruction’s that are furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form also, the ability to solve problems’ that involve multiple variables’ in a standard situation.

 

Other Skills & Abilities:

Incumbent should be capable of driving a forklift and using power tools. Working knowledge of 480 V / 120 V electrical systems, electric motors and contactor, control circuits, ability to read blueprints and manuals, troubleshooting skills, proficient with multi-meter and amprobe, have familiarity with PLC Systems, Hydraulic systems and components, pneumatic systems and components, power transmissions systems, piping systems and components, basic welding and fit-up, basic machine setup and alignment, rigging and lifting skills.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Additionally, this person needs to be able to work at heights above 5'9".  The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; bend; stoop; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance. The employee will be required to be capable of lifting/moving a maximum weight of 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally performs, near moving mechanical parts and in cold or heat temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate.

 

Safety Responsibilities: 

Before initiating work at NCI, the employee is required to read and understand the position’s Job Safety Analysis.  Employee must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and perform tasks in a manner consistent with NCI safety training, the NCI Employee Manual and OSHA regulations.

 

Testing:

This person will be required to pass a pre-hire assessment along with a background and drug test
