The Sourcing Manager for Steel Long Products and Scrap Management will have responsibility for the sourcing and supply chain management activities associated with NCI’s steel long products spend category and the management of NCI’s scrap sales program.  The combined annual spend of these two categories represents ~$80 million.

Primary responsibilities will include: developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver the best performance at the lowest total cost of ownership, managing supplier relationships & negotiations, driving productivity improvements, and working collaboratively with all functions of NCI.

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Leading the sourcing process and associated teams
  • Lead the sourcing strategy development process.
  • Provide in-depth analysis to support strategy development and fact-based decisions.
  • Challenge historical paradigms.
  • Lead the supplier selection and negotiation process.
  • Drive the implementation of strategies.
  • Manage the steel supply base and resolve performance issues.
  • Develop a supply base that can support just-in-time manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement ideas to optimize TCO.
  • Develop supplier generated cost reductions.
  • Implement best practices.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders and functional areas of the business to understand and satisfy needs and requirements.
  • Assist in communicating strategies to the business units.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Estimated travel requirement is 20%-30%

  • Experienced, knowledgeable and competent in sourcing both flat and long steel products
  • Strong/experienced negotiator with a proven track record of negotiating both short and long-term agreements
  • Proven analytic, management, communication and leadership skills
  • Proven project management, time management and conflict management skills
  • Creative, strategic and innovative thinker
  • Proven track record and capability to perform at an elevated level
  • Experienced in managing people and driving fact based performance management

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or other related business discipline.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in leading successful teams in the areas of procurement and supply chain management
  • A proven track record of success in managing procurement teams and sourcing steel products.
